We had a wonderful time at the Fall REtreat! And it seemed that the Holy Spirit was really working in the hearts of many of our students. For any parents or students who are interested in listening to the teaching times or knowing what was taught, you can check out the links below.
Friday Night: Introduction and Interview (Marc Goodwin and Christian McNeilly)
Saturday Morning’s Session: “From“ (Christian McNeilly)
Saturday Evening’s Session: “To” (Christian McNeilly) (Note: the first few minutes of this file are an opening book give-away)
The passage that Christian unpacked for us was Ephesians 2:1-10, which reads as follows:
1 And you were dead in the trespasses and sins 2 in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— 3among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. 4But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ— by grace you have been saved— 6and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. During the three sessions, we also showed three different videos to help illustrate what we were teaching. You can view them by checking out the embedded files below:
First Session’s Video: “Deaf Woman Hearing for the First Time”
We pointed out that this young lady had always had the sound waves of her voice hitting her ear drums…but now, now she could actually hear it! We used this to illustrate how the sound waves of the gospel have probably been pounding our students ear drums for a long long time, but for many of them, they’ve never really “heard” this good news. It’s just been in one ear and out the other. So our prayer for the weekend was the God would open their ears and their hearts to really hear the amazingly good news of Jesus!
Second Session’s Video: Lecrae’s Testimony
Lecrae is a Christian hip-hop/rap artist who is phenomenal. His testimony is a clear example of someone being saved from sin to Christ and righteous living.
Third Session’s Video: “A Letter to Satan” by Blair Wingo
This is a bit different for what most of our students are used to, but her message is powerful! The audio is a little rough on this, but it’s definitely worth the time to listen!
